Vicki has a musical background that is certainly unique!
Her musical beginnings in Australia included playing brass instruments from the age of 8, and graduating from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music, majoring in Tuba performance, and minoring in Voice. While in college, she joined the local Army Reserve Band, then joined the Active Duty Band a few years later.
Vicki came to the US in 2002, and joined the 257th Army Band in 2005 as a percussionist and lead vocalist. After winning the nationwide singing competition "Military Idol", Vicki has performed at sporting events such as Nationals, DC United, and Capitals games and the Washington Redskins Military Appreciation Day.
Other performances include Radio City Music Hall, the Army Birthday Ball, the Washington DC Cherry Blossom Parade, the Washington DC Independence Day parade, and many more performances for the USO, the DC National Guard, and other Military organizations throughout the DC Area.
She has also built a reputation as a powerhouse vocalist in the civilian music scene around DC, most recently including regular performances at the Ritz Carlton Pentagon City.
However, Vicki is much more than “just a singer”.
As the daughter of a music teacher, and someone who has studied tuba, piano, and percussion as well as voice, Vicki prides herself on being a musician first.
Because of a need with the Australian Army Band, she "fell into" arranging, as an assistant arranger with the Band, then took over when the lead arranger retired. Once in the US, she wrote and continues to write arrangements for concert band and smaller groups, with the 257th Army Band.
As a part of C.A.M.M.O., she wrote many of the vocal arrangements used by the American Military Spouses Choir, 4troops, and Voices of Service. This included orchestrating "The Promise That We Make" for the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, for performances featuring the Spouses Choir in 2014 and 2015.
Vicki was also a part of the Artistic Team for the US Army Soldier Show, and wrote or co-wrote many of the vocal arrangements for the 2014 and 2015 shows.
Her vocals alone are astounding – soulful, powerful, emotional and genuine. But when you add her other musical skills and experience, you get an amazingly talented artist.
